My Background

I am a registered psychologist. I have formal training and experience working in all areas advertised on this website. I have worked as a counsellor and psychotherapist for private, community, and government agencies. I have a Bachelor of Arts with majors in psychology and philosophy from Swinburne Institute of Technology (1990). In 1995 and 1996 I completed 18 months of formal training in marriage and relationship counselling. In 2002 I received a Masters degree in Criminology, (Forensic Psychology) from the University of Melbourne. I believe that the key to good practice is participating in continuing professional development programs.

What about the cost?

There is a wide variation in fees charged by psychologists in Melbourne ranging between $90 to $200 for a 50 minute consultation. The Australian Psychological Society (APS) publish guidelines for psychologist fees annually, the fees that I charge are significantly lower than what they recommend because I can keep my overheads lower. However, remember it is difficult putting a monetary value on happiness and wellbeing but a small investment can mean doing it easier in the long term.
